The case for a winter sale

Conventional wisdom says wait for spring. For a house with character, the quieter months often tell a truer story.

Winter light over a coastal home

Winter removes the easy theatre from a house. That can be useful. Serious buyers see the real light, the real heating, the real approach, and the real condition.

Not every home should launch in winter. But homes with depth, fireplaces, good orientation, village walkability, or strong year-round use can be clearer when the market is quieter.

There are fewer casual viewers. That is not always a weakness. The people who come are usually further along, better briefed, and less distracted by holiday mood.

A winter sale asks for disciplined presentation: warm rooms, clean documents, honest photography, and no attempt to pretend the season is something it is not.
